Alberta Mayors Embrace Federal-Provincial Funding for Housing Infrastructure

Alberta mayors have expressed optimism following a government agreement to fund housing infrastructure, as announced in Red Deer on July 29. The deal involves $510 million from Ottawa through the Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund, with Edmonton contributing approximately one-third of eligible project costs. This amounts to roughly $428 million in funding for municipalities like Okotoks and Airdrie, which are looking to benefit from this program. The funds can be used to set up water and wastewater infrastructure for homes.
